Frequently asked questions
Everything people ask about Halo — how voice journaling works, privacy, cost, and the honest limits.
The basics
What is Halo?
Halo is an AI voice journaling app. You talk for about two minutes, an AI companion listens and asks one follow-up question, and your words become a private journal entry with mood and themes.
How is voice journaling different from a normal diary?
A normal diary is a blank page you have to fill by writing. Halo is a conversation — you talk, it listens and asks a question, and it writes the entry for you. No typing, no blank page.
What can I talk about if I don't know where to start?
You don't have to plan anything. Halo opens with a question and follows up based on what you say. Most people start with how their day went, a decision they're weighing, or something on their mind.
How long is a session?
About two minutes. You can talk longer if you want, but the daily loop is meant to be short enough that you'll actually keep it up.
Privacy & data
Are my conversations private?
Yes. Your entries are private to your account and stored on EU servers. You can export or delete all of your data at any time.
Can I delete my data?
Yes — you can delete individual entries or your whole account and data at any time, from inside the app.
Do I need an account?
You can start anonymously. Creating an account lets you keep your journal across devices and restore it if you reinstall.
Cost & platforms
Is Halo free?
Halo is free to download and use for daily voice journaling on iPhone and Android. Premium unlocks unlimited voice conversations and deeper insights.
Which devices does Halo run on?
Halo is available on iPhone (App Store) and Android (Google Play).
What languages does Halo speak?
English, Russian, and Estonian — composed natively, so it sounds natural, not translated.
The honest limits
Can Halo replace a therapist?
No. Halo is a reflection and journaling companion, not therapy or medical care. It can help you think out loud and notice patterns, but it is not a substitute for professional support. If you're in crisis, contact a local emergency line.
Does the AI judge what I say?
No. Halo is built to listen without judgment — no lectures, no advice unless you ask, no scores. Just a calm space to hear yourself.
